There have been several posts on this forum about corruption of email formatting when an Internet message arrives at an R6 server and is then routed to an R4.6 server. Several people have stated that R4.6 does not support MIME and this is the root of the problem. I have a customer now who is experiencing the problem. But I question whether this conclusion is correct...
First, R4.6 server contains an SMTP MTA that explicitly is designed to handle MIME. I have installed it and used it. Second, the IBM R6 Upgrade Redbook states that R4.6, R5, and R6 can co-exist for mail routing with no problems. (Of course, the book could be wrong.)
So I wonder what is going on here. Is it really true that R4.6 and R6 cannot exchange email properly? Maybe the servers can exchange it, but the 4.6 Notes client cannot read it properly..???
Comments welcome.
